Introduction:

Sir, Albert Einstein said that, “Imagination is more important than knowledge”. If
there is one single job why this quote is totally applicable without any exception it
is the job of artists.
An artist’s job is probably one of the most creative jobs in the world. An artist’s job
is to give structure to his imagination. The great pictures and sculptures and paintings
and drawings that continue to inspire not only the contemporary generation, but also
the next generations.
But recently created something called AI photo generator – which has the ability to
generate realistic images.
Cannot only generate realistic images but the main feature is that they can generate
lots of images in a very short amount of time. Artists are already fearing that AI
based image generators and other AI tools can take away their jobs. Is it so? Let’s
find out.

Job loss risk:

If we talk about the realistic situation, we find that the job loss studies for artists due
to the advancement of AI is relatively very low.
A study shows there is around 3-4% chance of losing his job to AI. Needless to say,
the percentage is very low and there isn’t much to be clear about if you are someone
well established in this field or someone aspiring to become a well established one.
There are several results though why the advancement of AI cannot take away the
jobs of artists. As we discussed above, an artist mixes up his imagination and
emotions into his art. There is no denying that we are continuing to put technology
in computers that can replicate human imagination a bit. But that isn’t much to take
away from the job of an artist.
Images generated by these AI image generators are mostly inspired by images that
have already been generated by humans. The image generators have been trained on
those images and as a result they will just output what already humans have done.
Currently there is no such technology in the market that can think of its own a new
kind of art form, but artists have that quality in themselves.
But we can’t ignore that AI is already taking out the entry level jobs in the artist’s
field. Nowadays you can generate a simple cartoon or a scenery in just a few seconds
which for an artist will take at least half an hours to generate.

User poll:

We looked at the data of some user polls and here is what we have found. About
25% fear that AI will definitely have some impacts on their job.
Some artists are also concerned over the fact that companies will take a subscription
of an AI image generator that costs a few bucks rather than hiring a full time artist
whose salary is several times greater than what an Artificial intelligence image
generator costs.
Job growth:
A report published by the Bureau of Labor Statistics, says that the demand for artists
is going to compound at a steady rate of 2% every year till the next decade. However,
the competition in this job was slowly increasing even before AI entered this field.
After the entry of AI in this field, the competition has just seen an upraise.
People are expecting that in the future AI and humans have to collaborate to make
more productive things.

Wages growth:

The annual wage for an artist of intermediate level was around $50k in the year 2023.
According to reports, people who are in the top 10% of the field are earning more
than $100k every year.
But, there is something to worry about. Though artificial intelligence cannot replace
artists, some people are expecting that the growth of their pay is not going to rise as
they had expected. As artificial intelligence gives tough competition to humans in
this field, companies are now taking the opportunity to not raise the wage level for
artists.

Conclusion:

Yes it is true that Artificial intelligence and image generators best on AI take the job
of an artist, in the same way it is true that people are already aware of the impact of
AI in every industry. The same applies for the industry of artists.
Artificial intelligence is impacting entry level jobs. One of the examples can be of a
graphics designer who draws graphics for cartoons and anime. There are some image
generators specifically trained for generating images of cartoons and anime. Some
of them are showing promising results also.
Image generator developers are constantly working on things that will make the
image generator generate more human-like images. But if you have the power of
imagination and the capability of creating something unique, some drawing that can
never be created by artificial intelligence – your job is in safe hands.
